A steroid card needs to be issued at the start of treatment and carried by the patient at all times. If you are in one of the below groups, you are identified as at increased risk from COVID-19. If you are eligible for treatments, please follow the advice in your letter and contact your local Health Board.

You may therefore need to take extra precautions to prevent infection during this time. It’s important that you use lateral flow tests supplied by the government. Tests bought privately (eg, from a pharmacy) can’t be registered on GOV.UK so you’ll not be contacted about Covid-19 treatments if you test positive using one of these.

If you require medical treatment during your trip in an area where medical facilities are less developed than in the UK, you may be exposed to ‘blood borne infections’. The word “immunocompromised” means the body’s defence (or immune system) is weakened. It is very important to keep taking your usual medicines, and not to change any doses. You should also continue to follow your self-management plan or asthma action plan.
